I believe our I.T guy created a script to get the update to run (I've got no programming experience I'm afraid so I've no idea if that's the right terminology) and he would book time with a user to hit go, where they would have to avoid Autodesk products until he gave the go ahead that it was finished. My suggestion would be to perform the update exercise once a quarter if it is too much effort (which the list certainly makes it sound like).
